Hola everyone! My name is Katie Thill and I am an Elementary Spanish teacher. I am currently in my fifth year of teaching at Sonoma Elementary School in Battle Creek, Michigan. I teach Kindergarten through Fourth grade Elementary Spanish. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to teach a second language to children at such a young age. Further, since I am a Specials teacher, I have the pleasure of teaching all the students in my school including those from our Cognitive and Emotional Impairment classrooms and an ASD classroom.

I graduated from the University of Michigan (GO Blue!?) in 2010 with a Bachelors in Science and Teaching Certification in K-12 Spanish and 6-12 Biology. In 2012, I started my Masters at MSU with concentrations in Literacy and Special Education. GO State! My Masters classes have been very beneficial to my early teaching career and I am excited to further my knowledge with this course.

Lastly, I just recently became a Middle School volleyball coach. Overall, I love being a teacher and love seeing kids succeed :)

When I'm not working I enjoy spending time at my old farmhouse and gardening with my husband and two pups!  We love to travel and visit a few National Parks each year. I am an avid hiker and runner and am new into biking. I have ran multiple half marathons and two marathons, with most recently qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Over the summer we had the opportunity to travel to the Cinque Terre and Florence in Italy this August for two weeks and also completed a 300+ mile bike tour called the DALMAC from Lansing to Mackinac over Labor Day weekend.
